May 2025 Firmware Updates

Enhanced visual feedback when taking photos 
The animation displayed during photography has been improved. A checkmark now confirms that the photo has been successfully taken, enhancing the user experience.​ 

Horizon correction in photography 
Photos with a clearly visible horizon are now automatically straightened. A correction of 3 to 4 degrees ensures a level alignment by compensating for the bridge's tilt.​  

Optimized video stabilization 
Minor performance improvements provide more stable recordings and an optimized live view on the smartphone.​ 

Fixing the compass direction 
Pressing the main shutter button locks the current compass direction, displaying deviations from this point in the field of view. Pressing the button again clears the reference point. This function facilitates orientation and provides additional security during navigation.​ 

Consistent visual representation 
The identification display has been adjusted to match the BirdID system and is now shown as a circle instead of a square.  

Optimized image size when saving 
Saved images are now automatically cropped to focus on the bird, making it more quickly recognizable.​

Video Stabilization
The firmware includes video stabilization for recordings on the AX Visio and for live view in the SWAROVSKI OPTIK Outdoor App. This feature helps reduce unwanted movement and provides clear, stable videos.

Improved bird identification over longer distances Enhancements in image processing improve the accuracy of bird identification, even from greater distances.

Helpful notifications for unsuccessful identifications
When a bird cannot be identified, the device provides clear notifications indicating the possible reason. Examples include: Bird not recognized, Bird too small, Camera shaking, Bird not identifiable, Autofocus not finished, No bird found, or Location missing.
This real-time feedback helps users adapt on the spot and increases the chances of a successful identification. Notifications are available in English, German, French, and Spanish. The preferred language can be selected in the Bird ID app settings.

Updates in the SWAROVSKI OPTIK Outdoor App
The redesigned home screen offers an improved user experience. Additionally, the language options for displaying bird names have been expanded, making the app even more versatile for users around the world.

How to change the bird name language:
If automatic app updates are disabled on your smartphone, please update the Outdoor App manually via your app store. Then open the app, connect your AX Visio, go to the "Apps" menu, select the Bird ID app, and choose your preferred display language.
